Our 2016 Barbera is produced with fruit from Rancho Victoria in Amador County. Barbera is one of the few varietals we source from outside of Calaveras County given that Barbera likes the higher elevations and slightly cooler evening temperatures. This vintage is complex with layered flavors of raspberry and cherry on the nose giving way to rich blackberry on the palette and a nice lightly spiced finish. Aged in French oak barrels adds increased complexity and hints of vanilla.

Tasting Notes
The bright cherry and berry flavors one expects from a Barbera do not disappoint. The nose offers the essence of cherry nibs, yielding to flavors of cherry Jolly Ranchers with bright acidity.

Fruit for this vintage comes to us from the Rancho Victoria Vineyards in Amador County.
Winemaker Notes
Excellent drinking to be enjoyed now, or can be aged for a couple of years for further mellowing.
Food Pairing Notes
We suggest matching the natural flavor profile of this Barbera with herbs and spices such as sage, anise, cinnamon, white pepper, and nutmeg. Sausage on the grill with lemon sage risotto would pair nicely with this varietal.
