The 2017 Zinfandel follows in the footsteps of our ever-popular previous vintages. The luscious wine is fruity without being sweet making it a Wine Club member favorite. A hint of berries combined with a little spice and vanilla round out the palette of the 2017 vintage. Aged in American and French Oak barrels for 18 months, this wine is lovely now and will continue to reward those who have the patience to lay it down for a year or two.
The 2017 Zinfandel explodes with candied fruitiness followed by white pepper notes and toasty vanilla. The moderate tannins give this a smooth and jammy mouthfeel.
From the Calaveras County Dragone Ranch vineyard, this Zinfandel harkens back to previous vintages. The fruit, a Dupratt clone, is planted on extremely steep, rocky soil making it work to thrive - which is does!
We age our Zinfandel in a combination of American and French Oak barrels for 18 months giving it a lovely toasty finish. Although lighter in color than a Cabernet Sauvignon, its moderate tannins and slightly higher acidity give it a bolder feel.
Food Pairing Notes
The fruitiness of Zinfandel pairs perfectly with sweet-savory dishes like curry, BBQ or hard cheeses like Manchego.
