The Tempranillo delivers tobacco notes which are complimented by the rich depth of the Barbera. There is a fruitiness on the front end with hints of dark cherry and licorice.
Barbera (55%) is the foundation of this years blend and comes to us from the Rancho Victoria Vineyard in Plymouth. Tempranillo (45%) is sourced from the Cave City Vineyard in Angels Camp, and rounds out the 2017 Hovey C² Red blend.
The story behind C²: Chuck Hovey's mastery of both the art and science of wine-making are what set Hovey wines apart, and one of the reasons he loved the story behind the Hovey Tasting Room. The building was the original home of Albert Michelson who won the Nobel Prize in Physics for his work on measuring the speed of light (he discovered the “C²” in Einstein’s E=MC²).
