This big wine is enjoyable in its youth, but will age for 5-6 years. From Dragone Ranch in Calaveras County, our 2014 offers up bittersweet chocolate, coffee, Necco wafers and a hint of freshly baked cherry pie framed with toasty oak on the nose. On the palate: blackberry pie, white pepper and blueberries come through. This luscious wine will age nicely for five years or more, but is quite drinkable young, and pairs well with grilled beef or sausages, lasagna and other rich pasta dishes.
Our 2014 Petite Sirah is dry, full-bodies with higher tannins and sightly lower acidity.
Our Petite Sirah fruit comes from the Dragone Ranch, home of historic Stevenot vineyard located in Calaveras County.
This wine is best served at room temperature between 60-68 degrees F. Suggest decanting 30-60 minutes before enjoying to allow the wine to breathe and relax.
Food Pairing Notes
Given the wines higher tannins, this varietal will do well matched with fat or umami - think grilled meat or rich, creamy beef stroganoff.
